Farming Well
Preserving and Celebrating Carolina Farms,
Food, and Families.

FarmingWell Venture
FarmingWell wants to help celebrate and preserve the rich history of farming across North Carolina through its Agritourism venture.
Through hands-on experiences, training, and events, FarmingWell wants to help preserve and promote the following areas:
Farming, Health, Food, and Learning
FarmingWell’s social returns focus includes food security, healthy living, affordable living, farm/wilderness experiences, building community, and promoting locally grown agricultural products.
FarmingWell also includes another key “social return” – historic preservation.
FarmingWell’s 2020 pre-launch in April 2020, led by volunteers, began delivering food to the elderly and refugees of the Triangle in its first month.
What is Agritourism?
Agritourism is a way of bringing people together to share unique hands-on learning and engagement experiences through local farms and ranches.
North Carolina is helping to lead the effort with their launch of Visit NC Farms. Learn more about local North Carolina farms by clicking below.

FarmingWell & KnowledgeWell
FarmingWell is a new venture launched by KnowledgeWell (UNC Business Alumni Founded US 501c3 all-volunteer nonprofit) in partnership with NCSU eClinic & NCSU College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Students & Faculty, and Local Farms.
Over its first 15 years, KnowledgeWell delivered expertise internationally- including a UNESCO World Heritage nomination for the Federated States of Micronesia. Its first international project in 2006 centered around Historic Preservation. FarmingWell is the first US venture—a neighborhood project—located in the “Triangle” area of North Carolina.
Launch Date
The date of the Grand Opening of the first of many planned sites will be announced soon!

COVID-19 Response
COVID-19 response forced an early launch of FarmingWell. Donated organic beef and free-range chicken eggs are delivered to the elderly of the Triangle area in North Carolina.
Food security is one of FarmingWell’s “Social Returns” for North Carolina. Over 300 lbs. of beef were provided for Elder Centers in Durham, NC in the first month. Individually, volunteers have delivered food to elderly shut-ins and refugee families.

Our NCSU Student Teams have done an incredible job making FarmingWell a reality locally in North Carolina and have created a business model which can be replicated in other communities around the world.
Volunteers, Deborah Judd and Larry Harris, hold two of the 50 lbs. of roasts they delivered to elderly shut-ins.
A Special Thanks
THANK YOU! A special thanks to many other students that have been involved including former NCSU Graduate Students (Charlotte Ego, Marine Morel, Camille Pourchier, Saurabh Vishwanath). These students created the conceptual plan and presented it in Raleigh in 2017 where the FarmingWell conceptual plan was adopted. We are grateful for Larry Robbins of Wyrick Robbins who sponsored the event.
Thanks go to NC State University Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics Professor Dr. Gary Bullen and Assistant Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship, Executive Director NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic Lewis Sheats. Having grown up on a farm in Durham NC, special thanks go to KnowledgeWell Executive Director Lisa McFarland. Her first meeting with NCSU CALS Leadership which included Dr. Bullen and others occurred a few years ago. All have worked diligently to help make FarmingWell a reality.
